AT&T Toll Free Numbers Under State Plan for Telecommunication Services

The department of Telecommunication Services initiates all orders for toll free services for the University.   There is not a monthly recurring charge however, an approved PO number will be required for calls made to the toll free number.  Rates are approximately 15 cents for calls within the state of Texas and about 11 cents for the continental U.S.  These rates are subject to change without notice from AT&T.

To place an order for a new toll free service, you will need to send an eMail requesting new service to Trish Moore requesting a new service.  Information to be included in the eMail is as follows:

1.    POTs Line - A local University line that you want the new 800 number to ring in on (e.g. 713 500-2242). For future reference, that number will be refered to as the POTS (Point of Telephone Service) number.

2.    PO Number - Enter a Purchase Order ("PO") in FMS for approximately $50 with a vendor location of "MISC-LD" and account "67503" to cover calls and reference the PO number in the eMail.

3.    If your department needs a specific numbering sequence, you will need to clarify that from the very beginning.

In some cases, that number may not be available and we will have to work with AT&T to obtain the closest number possible.
Once the Telecommuniations representative has placed your order with AT&T, the new number should be issued within 3-5 working days.

To cancel a toll free service, simply email Trish Moore with the following:

1.    Toll Free Number
2.    POTs number (see number 1 in placing a new order above).
3.    Date for service to be terminated.
