SEVERE WEATHER AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION

In an emergency situation, UTH-HSC employees may obtain information about the institution's official status by any of the following means:

Tune in to any of these stations: KTRH-AM 740 and television Channels 2, 11, 13 and 48.

If your office is located in the Medical School, John Freeman Building, the Hermann Professional Building, the Cyclotron facility or the Jesse Jones Library building dial 713-500-7999. All other locations dial 713-500-9996. You will receive a recorded message specifying the status of the institution.

Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC) Employees ONLY, dial (713) 741-5001 to receive a recorded message specifying the status of HCPC 24 hours a day.
 
 

If you are able to access the World Wide Web, check the university's main home page at www.uth.tmc.edu for an emergency message at the top of the page if the university closes. This message will provide a link to information about university emergency closure procedures.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION

Emergency situations include any circumstance that threatens or is likely to cause harm to UTH-HSC, faculty, staff, students, visitors, UTH-HSC property and/or the surrounding community.

External Emergencies

External emergencies are generally the result of weather phenomena such as hurricanes, floods, or tornadoes, but may also result from events that occur adjacent to or near UT-HSC facilities, such as major fires, chemical or radioactive spills.
 
Internal Emergencies Internal emergencies are those that arise within a UTH-HSC facility, such as fire, explosion, natural gas leak, chemical spill, and radiation incident. Acts of terrorism and bomb threats to the UTH-HSC facility constitute another variety of internal emergency.
 
The University of Texas Houston Health Science Center (UTH-HSC) seeks to protect its community, facilities, and property from the effects of spontaneous, unpredictable emergency situations by establishing specific methodologies and procedures for coping with local emergencies.
