Ms. Dorothy gets around with a cane. She has allot of shade in the back yard, which is very large. When we met her, she was telling us about this "lizard" that must be living inside the wall of the front room. "It keeps chirping and it's driving me crazy." The noise started and she began lightly hitting the wall with her cane. Well...it wasn't a lizard. It was the low battery in her smoke detector so we put a new one in for her. She thanked us over and over because that noise has been bothering her since JANUARY. She'll sleep much better now.
Her garage door wouldn't even open because of the rotten wood. It now goes up and down with ease. The team installed two new doors, for which the frames had to be customized. Because the window sills under the AC units were in such bad shape and the old windows were falling apart, Ms. Dorothy now has not just two but three brand new windows. These frames required major customization as well since the windows were smaller than the original ones. She needed the larger AC unit in her living room. Not a problem. These were two of the windows we just happened to be replacing, so we moved the units just for her. This crew, along with the Roving Crew, went way above the call of duty. Even though the team finished their part, the roving crew gave up many weekends between APRIL and JUNE to complete the door frames, replace windows and switch the AC units. We never raised the white flag!
The crew pulled down her old Christmas lights and the crew leaders went back in November to install new lights they purchased for her. She was extremely pleased. KUDOS to the SPH Team and Roving Crew!
