UT HOUSE MEDICS SPRING 2005 PROGRAM
Workday - Saturday, April 16th and Saturday, April 23rd

Crew Leaders:

Krysti Suarez (713) 253-1795       Dennie Clemons (281)389-8005        Sandy Hernandez

Return to UT House Medics Main Page

First things first, Sandy had every volunteer sign in...Yes, even you Caleb! We're training 'um young now-a days!

What a great crew. We are awesome...
Mom made breakfast tacos & salsa...hmmm!
Thanks for the snacks Marilyn, they were delicious. The ice cream treat was super nice too Sandy. Milk jugs make great paint buckets when you cut around the handle.

...Pre posts....then......Posts...A nice L-shaped wheelchair ramp is coming along...thanks to Ralph (Rover pictured). He went to the house on Friday to dig the post holes and concrete them in! What a great guy! We'll keep him.
"Gregory is quite the helper", says Ralph!

Gregory informed Ralph that he would be back next Saturday to help wrap things up.

  Rick's our door man... .

Lunch at the Admin coral.
Houston Hilton Plaza, the sandwiches were the best ever! Ya'll are awesome.

Henry, Becky, and Emily started scraping...then Lakeitha and Henry priming.

Joshua, Luz, Lakeitha, Henry and Elinor scraped where the wheelchair ramp will go...  ...then primed and painted.

The wire clothes lines had to be removed for safety sake.
Elizabeth, Jim and Becky couldn't wait to get started scraping. Nails/wire sticking out of the house... Then there were those poles ... great "bag-flag" idea Becky!

Elizabeth, J.T., Jim, Christopher, Emily, Jacquelyn, Becky, Marilyn and Elinor worked on this side.

Maria, Monica, Brenden, Marie, Christopher & Gregory scraping away..

The weeds...    Once upon a time Josh had a weed eater, ...then it ran out of string. What's a man to do?

Sling blade comes to mind... Way to stick to it (or swing it) Josh!
It's lil' Quimby following in Josh's wake...train 'um young!

Matt and Bret did an awesome job replacing the back walls.  Before...
Wood off and on again...

Lakeitha primes the new wood. Some priming before it goes up... Kathi does a great job on the dreaded, arm and neck wrenching eaves.

We still have to prime the front porch and some of the back of the house. Most of the eaves will need priming. The Rovers will continue to work on the ramp. There is a ton of painting left to do. We'll need to spot check to make sure the old color isn't bleeding through the primer and paint. There is some trim to be put up inside the front door too.

As always, your leaders really think you are awesome and appreciate your help! We love you guys!!! KUDOs to us!

Please be sure to let Dennie (713/500-2235) know so that the shirt and food count will be correct for the crews. Be sure to introduce yourself to someone new. You might just recognize a voice and finally meet the person from the other side of the phone. We've heard some wonderful stories about people getting to know each other and the great conversations they've had.

Work safe and have fun. See you on the 23rd.
